Assembly of knives
Here are some sketches showing the assembly of knives. For reasons of clearness, certain proportions were not always respected (e.g. thickness of blade).
Straight blade with hidden tang
The ricasso of the blade is prolonged by the tang which is just inserted in a dug block.
This type of assembly in detail.
Straight blade with full tang
The blade has the final shape of the knife. The handle consists of two stuck and/or riveted slabs.

Friction folding knife, "two pins" kind
It is one of the simplest systems to make a folding knife. In opened position, the blade comes against a stopping nail. The handle is carried out with two slabs separated by a spacer with the thickness of the blade.
The delicate part:
Caulking an axis.
Friction folding knife, "piedmontese" kind
The principle is close to the "two pins", but the back of the blade has a lens or a paddle that leans on the back of the handle. Like above, the handle is carried out with two slabs separated by a spacer.

And always the same delicate point: Caulking an axis.
